OurBrainBank mourns the death of Jana Bennett OBE, Trustee
The Board of OurBrainBank is deeply saddened by the death of our friend, colleague, and trustee, Jana Bennett OBE. She died of glioblastoma at her home near Oxford on January 11th, 2022. Jana was one of the most distinguished broadcast executives of her generation and was a board member of the Pew Research Center and the British Library.
Jana was a key board member who used her skills and connections to raise awareness and funding for glioblastoma. She lent her compelling voice to the UK launch of our pilot study and to our GBM Bill of Rights video. With her husband Richard, she planned a gala benefit concert in Oxford — Arts in Mind — that, due to the pandemic, became a virtual event that lives on in video form.
Ed Pilkington, Global Chair of OurBrainBank said:
“Jana was a much-admired and much-loved member of the OurBrainBank family and a hugely important person in establishing the global presence of OurBrainBank as a trustee of the UK Board since 2019. She and her husband Richard Clemmow (who remains on the board of OurBrainBank) have made significant contributions to our work which aims to revolutionize patient power and care and turn this aggressive disease from terminal to treatable.”
Jake Arnold-Forster, UK Chair of OurBrainBank said:
“Over the three years we had the privilege of knowing Jana and working with her, we could only marvel at her energy, insight and commitment to our cause. Our hearts go out to Richard and her family, and we will continue her tireless fight to transform and extend the lives of patients diagnosed with glioblastoma.”
